   Proposal Description:
   We have found evidence, from genetic association studies, that ABCC9 polymorphism is linked to hippocampal sclerosis of aging (HS-Aging).  We hypothesize that sulfonylurea use, which targets the activity of ABCC9, is correlated with increased risk for HS-Aging pathology.  Sulfonylureas are an anti-diabetes drug.  To test that hypothesis we are requesting information about drug use and brain pathology among NACC cases with UDS histories.  We need to have fairly comprehensive drug history because we want to address in parallel whether the use of other anti-diabetes medicines correlate with HS-Aging pathology risk.
